This is the inaugural column of “Movers and Shakers: A glimpse into the lives of the men and women of the Reston Runners.” Today’s profile is of Laura Stassi, Reston Runner, and a writer and editor who will be managing this website feature

Name: Laura Stassi, 54, Reston (Golf Course Island Cluster)

I am a:  Jogger (“to move up and down or about with a short heavy motion; to run or ride at a slow trot.” I’m going to totally own it.)

I've been a Reston Runner since:    I originally joined when I first moved to NoVa from Richmond in 2003 but  never really got involved and let my membership lapse. I rejoined in 2014 and finally started taking it seriously in the spring.

PR (personal record):  Several years ago, I ran the very hilly Charlottesville Half Marathon in just under two hours. But really, any run completed is a good  run, especially with a friend.

When I'm not pounding the pavementI’m a full-time editor and a freelance writer. Two kids: Max, 24, works for KPMG in Richmond; Cecelia, 20, is a recent transfer to Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. I also have a mutt, and I volunteer with  Martha’s Table, Food for Others and the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Here's my little secret:  Title Nine (the sportswear company). Best bra selection ever.
